St Johnston & Carrigans

Sadie Browne - Gormley married name (died 2012) - makes a playful slap at the Donkey ridden by Paul Curran in 1980.

The FoodMarket in the background was popularly just called Golden's and a Fish and Chip shop was facilitated plus an amusements.  The shop was then run by Martin and Mary Golden.  A notice in the window was advertising Green Shield Stamps.  You got a stamp when you spent a certain amount of money and you put your stamp in a book.  When enough were collected you got a free gift.  It was an incentive to shoppers.

Photo courtesy of Gillian Graham whose parents are depicted.  She has dated the photo 1980 on the back.
