Railway Road St Johnston

Railway Road (the Boat-Hole) was where cargo was delivered & boats were loaded with sugar beet, cars from Cork & cattle to name a few things.  During WW2, turf was dispatched from the Boat-Hole countrywide, eg the Phoenix Park, Dublin.

The Boat-Hole was also home to the Train Station which closed in 1965. The express from Derry to Dublin went through on a daily basis six days a week.

St Johnston Cricket Club, the only one in Donegal, has used the Cricket Field since the 1930s.
