Taughboyne Parish Celebrates the 1,400th Anniversary of the Death of St Baithin

The Roman Catholic Church, the Church of Ireland and Presbyterian Church celebrated the 1,400th Anniversary of the death of St Baithin in 2000.  Open air services and ecumenical services were held.

The feast day of St Baithin is 9 June.  On Friday 9 June 2000, a service of Choral Evensong was held in Taughboyne Parish Church, Churchtown to mark the anniversary.  The Primate, Most Reverend R H A Eames L.L.D. was the preacher.  William Turner, Diocesan Reader, was robed on the occasion.  The Church had been renovated and decorated for the celebration. 

Archbishop Eames was presented with a Waterford Crystal vase.  It had been inscribed by the Rector's Churchwarden, Mr David Devenney.
