GRAVESTONE INSCRIPTIONS RELEVANT TO THE DUNMORE TRAGEDY
The small village of Carrigans was shaken by a gruesome tragedy in September 1938. A troubled mother shot her seriously ill son, in the garden of Dunmore House, dead. She then died by self-inflicted gunshot. The son's bride-to-be shot herself upon hearing that her beloved William George was dead. The tragic trio were buried in the nearby churchyard. The Church belongs to the Church of Ireland and is in the village of Carrigans.
