Trensallagh Incidents 2008

On Thursday 25th September 2008 there was a shooting incident at Trensallagh, St Johnston between 9.00 pm and 9.30 pm.  A 26 year old man from Derry was shot in the neck by four masked gunmen outside the house he shared with his girlfriend.  He was in his car at the time and his dog was shot.  The gunmen abducted his girlfriend in a blue transit van and let her go about 2 kilometres away.  The injured man managed to drive to a neighbour to get help and was taken to Letterkenny General Hospital where he had been stable.  The dog survived the attack during a spell in an animal hospital.  The man subsequently left the country and his house was left unoccupied.

A pipe bomb was planted at the house in early November 2008.

On Sunday night, 28th December at 11.30 pm, Gardai were told that the house was on fire.  The house was gutted.  The Gardai treated the fire as suspicious.
